The Hidden Dangers of Biopolymers
Toxic and Unregulated Substances
Biopolymers are synthetic materials often injected illegally by unlicensed individuals using non-FDA-approved substances. Many patients are unaware of what’s actually being used — substances like silicone, mineral oil, or industrial-grade fillers, which were never meant for injection into the body. These materials are toxic, permanent, and biologically incompatible, making them extremely dangerous.
Long-Term Health Risks
Once injected, biopolymers can migrate through the body, causing chronic inflammation, tissue hardening, skin discoloration, numbness, and deformity. Over time, the body may respond with autoimmune reactions, nerve damage, and painful nodules or lumps. In some severe cases, biopolymers can lead to systemic illness and life-threatening infections.
No Safe Dissolving Option
Unlike dermal fillers, biopolymers cannot be dissolved. The only medically accepted approach is surgical removal by an expert plastic surgeon. Attempting to leave them in place or using unsafe “removal” injections can worsen the problem. Without proper treatment, these materials may continue to spread, damage tissue, and cause disfigurement over time.
